Use this page to get involved in the public hearing and adoption process for the Community Goals and Objectives
Planning staff is now bringing the revised Community Goals and Objectives through the process to be formally adopted. Each board below hears an informational presentation from staff on the process to date. Following that meeting, each group will hold a public hearing at a second meeting. At that meeting they will review the proposal, hold a public hearing to hear from residents, and make a decision on the proposal. Here is the schedule for those meetings:
On April 27, 2021 at 5:30PM the Planning Commission held a public hearing to consider the Community Goals and Objectives for the Comprehensive Plan. At this meeting, residents shared their perspectives and then the Planning Commission made a favorable recommendation (10-1) to the Board of County Commissioners and the City Council. The Planning Commission heard an informational presentation on the draft Community Goals and Objectives at their March 9, 2021 meeting. You can view that presentation to the Planning Commission here.
Board of County Commissioners
The Board of County Commissioners will hear an informational presentation on the Community Goals and Objectives at their June 7, 2021 work session. The meeting begins at 9AM. You can view the agenda here.
The City Council will hear an informational presentation on the Community Goals and Objectives at their June 10, 2021 work session. The meeting begins at 1PM. You can view the agenda here.
Joint City Council/Board of County Commissioners Public Hearing
The Durham Comprehensive Plan covers the full City and County of Durham. Therefore, the City Council and the Board of County Commissioners have scheduled a special meeting to hold a joint public hearing on the Community Goals and Objectives for the Comprehensive Plan on June 15, 2021 at 6PM.
This meeting will be held online using the Zoom virtual meeting platform. Register to attend the Zoom hearing using the link below (Webinar ID: 962 2031 8648) by 3 p.m. on the meeting date. Or register by calling 1-301-715-8592 at least 15 minutes before the meeting start time.
